I don't think they've ever missed quota, but every year since my niece started HS 3 years ago, I look at the PC photos and get more concerned. Sadly, that is fairly indicative of this chapter. They are considered top tier at many schools. APHI and AXO are very similar. Theyve got a great house. DG: some cool girls and some weird girls. The only girls on our campus who were involved in sororities were out of state kids that needed this sense of inclusion to fit in. Phi Mu is very popular at LSU, but NOT at Arkansas and they even lost their chapter at UA bc they couldn't maintain their numbers. They are kind notorious for being, um, generous. Usually pretty and most party, a few don't. You seem very accurate in your general portrayals of the different sororities. Look past the make up/money/chapter stereotype. Almost impossible to get into unless you know a ton of girls in the chapter, are beautiful, and from an affluent neighborhood. The university also received national recognition for Latino student success. Mix of wild and good girls. I'd hope that by now people would be able to see how each organization is full of unique and diverse members who find shared values in their organization. Find out for yourself by visiting during recruitment activities. PKT..very different chapters but all three required major connections to get in. This is absolutely absurd. The reputation of each sorority is DIFFERENT at every sorority you go to. Particularly on a very large campus, undergraduates can benefit from the friendship and support a sorority offers. If you pledge to a sorority and then think it isnt for you, decide on joining before the initiation process. It's definitely not for me though. The Kappa chapter was shut down for drugs and hazing at Rollins and OSU, and dancing topless at SMU on bid day? And the KD's are definitely a hodge podge, but I love em! They have found a place to do philanthropy, learn incredible study habits and make life-long friends. The tier has everything to do with how picky it can be about members. This is stupid. You know those girls that were left over or that nobody else would take? At my school the top three sororities are Delta Zeta, Tri Sigma, and Alpha Sigma Alpha. So much wrong about this. Because honestly, sororities aren't like what you see in the movies. Overall Theta competes with Pi Phi and Kappa (less with Kappa in the past couple of years with their suspension for hazing and having to snap bid like twenty five girls a few years back). Its hard to generalize about a sororitys reputation nationwide; there are many differences from campus to campus. AXis PC is a lot prettier than ADPi, KD, and DGs pledge class from what Ive seen. DZ members take pride in their deep involvement in campus Greek life. Chi O: About 50/50 party girls and non-party girls. Those young ladies are awesome. This was really interesting to read. Most of the girls who were debutantes with me were Pi Phis. Delta Zeta is probably the hardest to get in on our campus. I went DG, (slu++y/partners) reputation but undeserved, except for 30-40%. The Kappas aren't rich like the Pi Phis and Thetas. Alpha Phi got more girls rushing PKT than Chi O, Tri Delt or Zeta because they didnt drop those girls first day! Care about money, looks, and highschool GPA. Pi Phi: Their PC18 had some snap bids and it seemed like this year girls prefered Zeta and Chi O above Pi Phi. Clearly Tri Delt, Zeta, and Alpha Phi were all rushing against them and all did better. Theta has more pretty girls and definitely a lot of party girls. Girls going through rush (and those rushing them) will decide where they fit in the best; the recruitment process is designed to try to ensure that good matches are made, and each PNM ultimately joins the house in which she will feel most comfortable. Im not a part of Greek life, but I have many friends who are. :(. KD was a well desired house this year by a lot of PNMs and for good reason. Tri Delt /Alpha Phi You can't classify ANY sorority with a "general reputation"..each chapter at each university is different. I'm a Zeta Tau Alpha and I don't wear heavy make up nor do I have a "princess complex." This is actually pretty accurate and is just making the people who think the sororities cant change ever mad, but every other school has relative rankings that shift over time its normal.

With that out of the way, SoccerGirlNYC had some pretty sage advise. Dont know whats happening to them, but they arent what they used to be and are going down fast. Most, if not all, sororities have sophomore quotas meaning that they have to accept a certain number of girls who rush their sophomore year.
